PZL Defence S.A. and the Military Institute of Armament Technology have entered into a scientific and technical joint venture agreement. The cooperation is aimed to develop and commercialise a new generation of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS).
The partnership involves the integration of state-of-the-art technologies developed by the Military Institute of Armament Technology, including warheads, with advanced unmanned platforms developed by PZL Defence. Synergy of scientific and industrial competences will lead to the creation of a system that responds to the growing defence needs of Poland and its allies.
Cooperation with the Military Institute of Armament Technology is a natural step in the implementation of our long-term strategy. We are joining forces to provide the Polish Armed Forces and our allies with solutions that respond to the challenges of the modern battlefield. For us it is not only a development project, but above all an investment in the future of the Polish defence industry" - emphasises Maciej Borecki, President of the Management Board of PZL Defence.
Cooperation in the field of development of drone technology is a priority for the Institute. We focus our research and development efforts primarily on securing the needs of the Polish Armed Forces. Our solutions are characterised by interoperability, providing users with an effective tool for achieving their operational goals. Cooperation with PZL Defence is an opportunity to achieve this goal and strengthen the combat potential of our army – Colonel Paweł Sweklej, PhD, Eng., Director of the Military Institute of Armament Technology.
The project involves both development work and preparation for the systems implementation to the market. The parties will cooperate in the integration of components, testing and the development of technical documentation.
Until PZL Defence obtains the appropriate licence to manufacture and sell products for military or police use, the company will only conduct works that are not subject to statutory restrictions. This means that it is already possible to effectively develop the technological and structural elements of the systems, while remaining fully compliant with the applicable regulations.
The agreement is part of a broader process of modernising and strengthening European defence potential, as well as developing the domestic high-tech industry. Unmanned combat systems are currently one of the key areas of army modernisation, and the cooperation between the Military Institute of Armament Technology and PZL Defence offers an actual opportunity to build competence in this strategic segment.
